Using Articles To Increase Traffic and Profits

Posted by admin on 27 July 2010

Article marketing as a method of traffic generation has become one of the favourite methods used by various internet marketers. The main reason article marketing has become so popular is that nowadays the internet serves two major purposes. Majority of users go on the the internet either to buy things or look for information on things they are interested in.

Providing a product or service along with detailed information on how that product or service can benefit your website’s visitors can increase your traffic and conversions by a substantial amount. Putting up a display image, adding a few lines of description and slapping on a price tag will just not cut it anymore as people have become more savvy and require detailed information before making a decision to buy your products.

Article marketing can be implemented using a wide range of methods:

Regularly incorporating new content into your website to keep the content fresh ,this keeps your visitors coming back regularly.

Creating a blog using articles and sending the blog readers to your main website . • Contributing articles to article directories to gain backlinks thus improving your search rankings and driving traffic to your site

It is highly recommended that your article content should provide valuable, important information that your readers are looking for. Your articles should never come across to your readers as a sales pitch neither should they be pushy. On the contrary, they should help guide your readers into making an informed decision. They will ideally contain enlightening content that keep your visitors seeking additional information and facts from you and will ultimately result in them paying your webite a visit to find out what you are all about.

Search engines like google, yahoo and bing love fresh content.

Right now, there happens to be boat loads of websites on the World wide web and several of them are usually static and unproductive. Typically, the search engines usually do not really like these kind of websites, consequently they are usually listed at the bottom of search results.

If you develop and build a website and never update it, what is most likely to happen is that your static website is most likely going to be listed at the bottom of the search results and no one will ever know it exists. Ending up at the bottom of the search listings is definitely not the manner by which a website generates web traffic. In order to continue to keep the search engines interested in your website and move you up the search results, you have to provide them with fresh content. In addition to this you need to have backlinks with relevant anchor texts pointing to your site, submitting articles to directories is a good way to achieve this. This is where the usefulness of article marketing comes into play.

If you publish beneficial content articles on your site, people will keep coming to your site as long as you can be found in the search engines. A good way of adding content to your website is to add the content slowly. You can add as little as a page a day or if you are a prolific writer or can afford to hire a writer you can add a few articles everyday. This will certainly be dependent on just how much spare time you have got to post articles to your website. It is better to feed your website with articles slowly rather than posting a tonne of content all at once. By posting your articles slowly, you will keep the search engine spiders lurking around your website. These are just a few ways that articles can be used to help you to generate traffic.

The next most important factor which you have got to take into consideration is the construction of your press release. Press releases and articles are not exactly the same, although there are identical elements in both formats. Every time you compose the actual press release you should really make it compelling, persuasive, interesting and informative. Within the actual body of the press release, you ought to strive towards having a newspaper approach. Place essential information in the very first paragraph and then gradually link and transform the press release directly into information, details and facts about your business or organisation, with a subtle yet precise call to action in it. It is equally a very good idea to make use of quotes, even if they are your personal quotes, this gives your press release a news feel.

Even newsletters/ coupons will do if you are not selling anything. These lists in themselves are very valuable. At the very least, it gives you permission to contact them again.

3. Encourage visitors to our website to bookmark your site by placing links on your web pages asking them to do just this. As the saying goes, “If you don’t ask, you don’t get”.

Also, make it easy for them to do this by placing the relevant buttons on your webpages. This way, all they need to do is click a button.

4. Prompt your website visitors to recommend your site to their friends by adding a link.button asking them to “Recommend this site to a friend”. You can do using a logo, catchphrase or slogan. Think Coca-Cola, Nike, etc their logos as as well know as theor products.

Tips For Buying Ad Space

Posted by admin on 17 July 2010

A lot of experts will assure you that ad space does not work any more, however, you should take this with a pinch of salt. It is still possible to buy ad space which attracts traffic to your website, as long as you do it and do it right.

One way to leverage ad space is to buy ad space for skyscraper banners. If you can, you should buy those, instead of ad impressions. It is still okay to buy and leverage impressions, but remember if you do not get the required click-throughs then you won’t generate any significant traffic. If you decide to use banner advertisements that are distributed by impressions, then you will need to have some input on the positioning of the banner as well as what the average click through rate is.

Another method of using ad spaces to generate traffic is to buy spaces on reputable/authority sites which sell text links. Now, this was an effective method and still is, if you can get the spaces to buy. This is because Google has taken over a significant number of these site’s advertising spaces. One way is request to advertise through AdWords on specific sites.Another method you can utilise is to visit the site, look for the ‘advertise on this site link’ there and click on it.

One more way for you to buy ad space is by exchanging banners and/or links with other websites. This is usually regarded as a no-win situation, but the fact remains that it works and it generates traffic. A useful tip: Make sure that you choose the right place to advertise. There are two things you need to take into consideration when purchasing ad space. One of them is page rank. Download Google’s toolbar to get the page rank of any site you visit as you browse the Internet looking for potential websites from which to buy ad space.

A very useful tool when checking page ranks can be found at http://www.iwebtool.com/pagerank_prediction. It is very useful because some webmasters/website owners can manipulate their page rank so it looks higher than it actually is. This site I have just given will tell you the actual page rank. That way, you are always ahead of the game.

Secondly you need to check that the website you buy a banner on is actually getting traffic otherwise there is no point. One quick way to check this is to check its alexa ranking. You can do that by entering the website address into the search bar on the following website: http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo. While there are no hard and fast rules, I will personally not buy banners on any site that does not have an Alexa traffic ranking of less than 1.5 million.

Once you’ve verified the page rank and the Alexa traffic ranking, you can now make a more informed choice as to the the value and subsequently the price that you will pay as well as the positioning of the ad. The ad needs to positioned to generate revenue. A good indicator is how well the site that previously occupied the space you are considering performed, try and get that information if you can. You also need to know or have an idea of roughly what the click through rate was.

The last thing to be considered is price. For example, if the site has a low Alexa rating, high page rank, good positioning, but too high of a price tag then you will want to go somewhere else. You have to keep in mind that you have to pay for high page rank and direct traffic. You have to determine how much you are willing to spend. This is crucial for both banner ads and text ads. They both need to be positioned to get clicks.

Also, the ad needs to be properly written/designed. A good way to do this is to follow Google Adwords outlines. You need to have a powerful headline, a pitch and a call to action. For creating banners, follow the guidelines of the site. For instance, some sites allow flash and others do not. Additionally, it helps to prepare different versions of your banners as well. Another common banner feature is to have some movement with a banner. If you can, go a step further and make it interactive. Lastly, when creating small image ads or buttons, try to make it tell what you site is all about while being concise at the same time.

Pay-Per-Click (PPC) Programs

Posted by admin on 08 July 2010

Pay-per-click advertising has existed as a traffic generation model for quite a while now, however there have also been a few minor and major changes . When Pay-per-click first started, majority of people found it quite easy to use. Primarily, all that had to be done was set-up a keyword list and place low bid amounts. Ultimately, you would most likely generate some sort of profit. Pay-per-click companies genuinely were not bothered with just how much of a profit you were making as long as the scheme was working.

Nowadays, pay-per-click programmes have advanced and developed quite a bit. You can now split your ppc campaings into segments and perform a wide range of campaigns. You are actually equipped to make your campaigns more effective by using this multi-campaign feature.

You can use different key phrases to segment your campaigns. What this means is that you basically look for a number of key phrases that are related and put them in seperate groups. This method allows you to create promotions that are structured around those key phrases as opposed to just one word. The key phrases are usually displayed in bold format in your advertisements to help boost the probability of your adverts getting lots of clicks.

Another strategy that can easily be utilized is to make use of long tail keywords. Up until now, the majority of advertisers have been utilizing extremely competitive keywords and keyword phrases. However this is no longer essential. 50% of search queries that take place on search engines are usually unique. The more adjusted your keywords are to these types of queries, the better you will do. The strategy is that if you utilize lengthier and much more developed lists of keywords, you ought to be able to produce much more targeted traffic when compared with short keyword lists with extremely competitive keywords.

If you have already been making use of a pay-per-click strategy with only a handful of keywords and phrases,it really is an excellent idea to update your advertising campaign to integrate more similar long tail and related keywords.

To set-up your Pay-per-click advertising campaign, all you need to do is find a service. There are several pay-per-click service providers including:

• Google AdWords

• Yahoo Advertiser Network

• Microsoft adCenter

AdWords is probably the most preferred and a large number of people are using it mainly because it produces a massive volume of targeted visitors. You can easily utilize the alternative ppc services to complement your advertising campaigns.

The next step you need to implement is to use the keyword research tool in Google AdWords to generate your keywords and keyword phrases. This is an awsome tool due to the fact that it displays just how frequently particular keywords and phrases are searched as well as how competitive these keywords are.

You need to build a huge list that will permit you to make use of just about every related word or permutation that is presented. Immediately after you obtain your list, you should split it into a number of lists. Use 2 to 3 keyword bases for every single list, also include related keywords and phrases on to these lists.

Several industry experts advise utilizing a minimum of forty advertising groups. Now you can easily generate advertisment campaings for every single keyword group. In each advertising campaign, you will need to optimize your adverts to show a root keyword or key phrase.

Whenever you create your advertising campaign you will certainly need to take into account your profit margin. For instance, if you have got a conversion rate of one per cent and your product or service is $50, then you can’t afford to spend more than fifty cents on each click. If you spend more than that, you will certainly no longer produce a profit.

Use Keywords In Page Titles

Posted by admin on 04 July 2010

It is considered best practice to make use of keywords in web page titles. The title tag is very different from the Meta tag, however it is worthwhile taking it into consideration in relation to meta tags. Whatever textual content one includes inside the actual title tag (in between the part) is going to show up inside the actual title bar of web browsers whenever they access the website or web page.Certain web browsers also add to whatever you place inside the title tag by simply incorporating their own brand name, for instance Microsoft’s Internet Explorer or OPERA.

Often, the specific text you utilize within the title tag is one of the most essential factors in just how a search engine might choose to rank your web page.Practically all major Search engines will use the text of your title tag as the text they use for the title of your page in their search listings.

If you have created your site as a collection of websites or linked web pages and not merely a solitary Home Page, you ought to take into consideration the fact that each and every page on your site needs to be optimized for the search engines. The title of every single page i.e. the keywords and phrases you make use of on each web page and the key phrases you utilize in the articles and other content will definitely attract targeted traffic to your website.

The distinctive blend of keywords and key phrases in your articles and other content will attract prospects by utilizing various search engine terminology and tactics, therefore always be certain you have captured all of the keywords and key phrases you require for each product, service or information web page.

The most typical blunder made by small to medium sized sometimes even large business owners is, when they initially build their website they put their business name or organization name within each and every title of every single page. In fact the majority of of your potential prospects usually do not make an effort to find out the name of your organization until after they have checked out your website and determined it is worth bookmarking.

Therefore, despite the fact that you would like your organizations name in the title tag of the homepage, it’s almost certainly a waste of precious keyword space to put your organization name in the title tag of every web page on your website. Why not think about adding keywords to the title tag so that your web page will appear closer to the top of the search engine results.

Dedicating the first three positions to keywords and phrases inside title tag as well as steering clear of the stop words like ‘and’, ‘at’ and so on is essential in optimizing your website for the search engines.

You Too Can Start Your Very Own Affiliate Program

Posted by admin on 01 July 2010

There are many reasons that for which you may decide to join affiliate programs. But the most popular reason for joining them is they provide you with opportunities to make extra/ even a lot cash.

There are two ways in which affiliate programs can work for you and you should take advantage of both. Most people understand affiliate programs as programs you join so you can sell somebody else’s products and receive a commission for the sale from the product owner. This is the route most people pursue and you can do the same as well. However, it is not the best way to go about it.

If you already have traffic on your site, then affiliate marketing/products are a fantastic way of generating extra income. However, in order to generate a lot of money from affiliate programs, you need to start your own program so others can sell your own products.

You can promote your product by yourself, but that means your sales will be limited to just the visitors to your site. But if you design your own affiliate program, your products can be sold in a LOT more places including newsletters and numerous other websites. They will join your program and place your links on their web-site’s pages, in effect doing all the selling for you. In return, you get to pay them a commission, and this is normally handled by your network.

There are a lot of other good reasons to start your own affiliate programs to and let others promote your product for you. One compelling reason is that way, you can penetrate niches that you do not know about yourself. Various people get to look at your products, and they will place them on many other websites which you never even knew existed. The majority of people don’t even know what an affiliate program is, talk-less of how to start one. Starting one requires some planning and you need to begin planning before you launch your product. One of the best ways to start is by looking for people who may be interested in selling your products. You can then incentivise them to sell it by offering them a substantial commission on the product. Most affiliate programs offer between 50% to 70% commission per sale. Of course this means the higher your product is priced, the easier it is to convince them to sell it.

Once this is sorted, you will then need to create a professional sales page for your product. As much as possible, try to design it so it is easy for your affiliates to use it. You will also have to provide them with tools, like banners and photos for them to use on their websites. The following are handy tips when to help you look for your first few affiliates:

1. Friends and family particularly those who already have their own website.

2. Anyone else who who operates in your niche.

If you want to start your own affiliate program, but don’t know where or how to go about it, there are several services that you can use. I must tell you that these services often take 30-50% of the sales, but they pay your affiliates for you. It might be worth it just for the traffic you can gain and on top of that, you don’t have to worry about the hassle of paying people and tracking their sales. On the plus side, they can help you find affiliates, which also saves you time and a lot of effort.

It all boils down to how much you are willing to spend and lose to commissions. However, it gives you a chance to learn along the way and also worth noting is the fact that if buyers need your service or product again, they will probably come to you directly. If you don’t like the idea of paying an affiliate network company, you can purchase software that will help you run your program. You install this software on your server and it can also pay your affiliates automatically as well. Look and think through these options when setting up your own affiliate program and select whichever ones the you feel most comfortable with.

How to boost your Ranking and increase your Website Traffic

Posted by admin on 28 June 2010

It is worth detailing the guidelines/steps to follow to increase a website’s traffic and search engine rankings.

Make sure your site has valuable unique content and products/services. Position your primary and secondary keywords within the first twenty-five words of your page’s content and also spread them throughout the document.

Research and use the right keywords/phrases to attract your target customers. The right keywords are the ones used by these same customers when searching for your product on the internet.

Use your keywords in the right fields and references on your web site, like Title, META tags, Headers, etc.

Keep your website’s design simple so as make it easy for your visitors to navigate between its pages, find what they want and buy your products/services.

Submit each individual web page, not just the home page, to as many of the the popular search engines and directory services as you can. Do not use any automated submission service, you must do this manually. Hire someone to do it if you do not have the time/inclination to do it yourself. Make sure this is manual submission.

Keep track of changes in search engine algorithms and processes as they get changed from time to time. You have to keep up with these changes and modify your web pages accordingly so your search engine ranking remains high.

Use online tools and utilities regularly to assess how your website is doing.

Also keep track of your competitors as well as other top ranked websites to see what they are doing right as regards design, navigation, content, keywords, etc.

Analyze reports and logs from your web hosting service provider to see where your traffic is coming from. Also, from the same reports, analyze your visitors’s locations and how they get to your site, whether from search engines or links from other sites. Keep track of the keywords they used to find you as well.

Make your customers’ browsing experience very easy and provide numerous ways for them to remember you such as newsletters, money-off coupons, free reports etc

Demonstrate your industry and product or service expertise by writing and submitting articles on your website or to article banks so you are recognized as an authority in your field.

If you sell anything at all from your website, use simple payment and shipment methods to make your customer’s experience fast and easy. If need be, outsource it or hire professionals. This may seem costly, but it is a lot cheaper than paying for a website which no one visits.

Don’t make the very common mistake of of thinking of your website as a static brochure. Instead, treat it as a dynamic, constantly changing sales tool, like a real physical store. If not, it will only go further down the search engine rankings into obscurity.

Traffic Generation Techniques

Posted by admin on 23 June 2010

Without website traffic, your website isn’t going to make you any money or generate any leads. Surprisingly, most people don’t know this. They wrongly believe in the “Build it and they will come” principle thinking they just have to build a website and traffic will automatically flock to it.

This is completely wrong and for this reason, several websites end up being abandoned. There are over 25 million websites on the Internet. In addition to these sites, there are over one million spam sites. These are sites that steal traffic from sites which are useful. They divert your visitors into traps of advertisements that are hard to get out of. Ironically, these sites are also designed to generate traffic but without providing any good information for visitors. Although some visitors will come across your website, the fact remains that significant money-making traffic doesn’t just appear. Even for the few visitors that come across your website, they most likely will not stay long or return. The main reason that you don’t see immediate traffic once you publish your website is because there has to be a source/magnet to attract the traffic. You need to promote your website using a link which people can click on to get to your site . You can also promote your site by placing its address on a piece of mar keting material which people will see and then subsequently visit your website.

Another form of traffic that you want to learn how to attract is called “organic search engine traffic”. When we talk about trying to get your site noticed in a search engine, this is the traffic we are talking about. It is the hardest form of traffic to build/attract. Your site has to show up near the top of the search engines for people to click on it. Bear in mind that you are also competing with about 4 million other websites. If you are way back on page 100 of Google’s page rankings for a particular keyword, then your website will probably not get noticed. It also helps to choose a keyword that is popular and searched frequently because obscure keywords get you little or no traffic at all. You can also buy this traffic. But be aware that buying traffic does not mean you will make any money. If it is random, untargeted traffic then it is most likely to be a waste of your time and money. At best, you will have to work extra hard to convert purchased, untargeted traffic into paying customers. Without a steady, constant stream of targeted traffic, you will not make much money off your website and your business will not do so well.

Website Traffic and Sales

You now know that traffic is the key to generating sales and sales are the keys to generating money. This makes traffic generation a very profitable exercise, as long as it is targeted traffic. It is worth mentioning that you should stay clear of traffic generation schemes that seem too good to be true, because they most likely are. You can make money from traffic in the following ways

• More Sales – The more visitors you attract, the more of your products or services you will sell. The more products or services you sell, the more money you will make.

• Build Your Own Lists of Prospects – the more you sell, the more people you have on your mailing list. Mailing lists are a fantastic way to keep people informed about your business. As the saying goes, it is easier to sell to a customer than to a total stranger.

• Promote Your Brand – The more traffic you attract, the more people are exposed to your brand. They in turn will then pass on information about your business to other people who will then visit your website and hopefully buy your products as well.

Simply put, if you have no traffic, you will make no money. This is as true in the online world as it is in the offline world

Two Traffic Generation Strategies

Two simple ways that you can generate traffic on the web are:

• Free Traffic

• Paid Traffic

Free Traffic: Although it is called free traffic, free traffic is actually free. In reality, it requires an investment of time. You want to start here as it can generate loads of tarffic if correctly done. And remember, targeted traffic equals sales and sales equals money in your pocket.

Paid traffic: This is useful depending on what you are selling. The most popular, reliable way to get paid traffic is through the Google Adwords program. With this program, you can use paid advertising to generate traffic. People who click on your advertisements are likely to be interested in your product and thus likely to buy. What’s more, the people who click on those advertisements recognise that they will be sent to a site that paid for placement and they know it is a site where they will be expected to purchase something, provided they like it. A lot of people get into long winded debates about which of the two startegies are better. Don’t waste your time dwelling on such issues. Either one is better than having no traffic and in my experience both complement each other and as such should be used together.

Optimizing Your Website For The Search Engines (SEO)

Posted by admin on 18 June 2010

To achieve success on the web, you need to have a thorough understanding of search engine optimization, or SEO, as it is more popularly known. Compared to the number of people who have heard of SEO, only a few know what it is and even fewer actually understand it. In reality, it is rather simple, and its main use is to drive one-way traffic to your site for free. It is time intensive, but with a bit of effort, you should start seeing results in a matter of weeks.

The first thing to understand is how search engines (Google, Ask, Yahoo etc) rank pages. Pages are ranked in line with their relevancy with regards to specific keywords that people use when searching for information on a given topic. The more inbound links that a site has from similar sites with high quality content/information, the better/highrer it will rank. Also, the more relevant and valuable the content of a site is, the higher that site will rank for a particular keyword. However, this doesn’t mean that it will automatically rank as high for related keywords or key phrases.

When people browse the web, the vast majority of us do not show any interest in those pages who are ranked number 200. We rarely go beyond the first 10 or 20 because we don’t want to ‘waste’ time looking and sifting through hundreds of pages. The idea being that through search engine optimization, your site will rise up through the ranks by using fresh, keyword content that will attract the search engines and the resulting traffic. Subsequently, the more traffic your website generates, the higher it will be ranked in the listings. Consider how you search when you want to optimize your own website. For instance If you want to buy a book on search engine optimization, will you go all the way to page 30 to check the listings there? If you are like most people, then definitely not.

Next, very popular keywords which are used most often are going to have a lot of competition. So, you know that there are about 4 million websites on the Internet. Let’s assume that your website is about toys. Then, you will have “toys” as your main keyword. Now, if you search toys in any search engine, how many pages are there for you to view? You will probably find hundreds of thousands, of pages(maybe millions) and all the sites on these pages are your competition. When optimizing your site for a keyword, you are best off choosing the path of least resistance. This means instead of choosing the most popular keywords, you look for popular ones which are not as highly contested.

Thirdly, choose keywords that are easy for you to compete for. You then need to build pages which are based on these keywords which receive traffic, but have little or possibly no competition. As you do this, you will start building up pages that reach the higher and more contested keywords. Basically, you will be building a ladder that will let you exchange links with relevant sites and you then use their keywords as anchor texts in your sites.

Indexing your Site into Search Engines Quickly Indexing your sites helps them to gain exposure. You can practically guarantee yourself a place in their “sandbox” by simply submitting your sites. But, you may still have to wait a while, possibly months, before they eventually get to indexing your site. Highly ranked pages get spidered more quickly and frequently too. So one way to get your site noticed quickly is to find a way to get your website’s link on a highly ranked page. If you do this, then the search engine’s spider will move into your site as well through that link.

One way to get your link onto these highly ranked sites, is to buy advertising space on them. Average prices for these ad spaces range from $10 to $25 for a set period of time depending on the site and once your ad is placed on their site, your site will get indexed. Once your ad space is expired, if you do not renew it, you still get the benefit of being indexed very quickly.

Yet another way to get your site indexed quickly is to join a highly ranked forum and post useful comments that have a signature with your website address in it. You can do the same on popular blogs. Remember to check that they don’t use “no follow” tags, else your commentwill go unnoticed by the search engines. Make sure your signature always links back to your website. These are just some of the ways to get links on highly ranked pages. There are several other methods that you may use as well.
